Meet Aly Rahim, the new GPSA Program Manager

We are pleased to announce that Aly Rahim has been appointed the new Program Manager of the Global Partnership for Social Accountability effectively from August 22, 2022. He succeeds Jeff Thindwa, who is retiring from the World Bank Group from October 1. Aly will also have the role of Global Lead for Citizen Engagement. He was most recently the Practice Manager for Social Sustainability and Inclusion for West Africa, having previously served in social development roles in Africa, South Asia, Europe and Central Asia with a focus on fragility and participatory and inclusive development programs. He also previously served in the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs.

Building on the GPSA’s track record, Aly’s priority will be to strengthen the World Bank’s mechanism for engagement with civil society organizations, and to develop a strategic plan for the Bank’s work on social accountability and citizen engagement working closely with other World Bank teams and our external partners. Aly will also lead the effort to further operationalize social accountability and citizen engagement in collaboration with the World Bank’s regional teams and Global Practices.

Please join us in welcoming Aly to his new role, and please do not forget to follow him on Twitter @aly_rahim!
