CIVIC: The Civil Society and Social Innovation Alliance will be a dedicated finance and support facility for civil society organizations and other social economy actors. CIVIC’s development objective is to bridge civil society, social innovators, WBG, and governments to identify, support and foster scalable, people-driven solutions for a livable planet.

Through the WBG Evolution Roadmap and IDA21, we are renewing our commitment to strengthen the WBG’s engagement with civil society organizations and social innovators.

The GPSA and Climate Collective hosted a 2024 NY Climate Week panel discussion around the future of green accountability and the roles of youth and technology in mitigating the climate crisis.
The Green Accountability Platform is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched by the World Bank's Global Partnership for Social Accountability, in collaboration with a consortium of leading CSOs—World Resources Institute, Huairou Commission, and SouthSouthNorth—as implementation partners. Its aims to build systems to enhance the quality, effectiveness, and equity of climate finance in five pilot countries: Bangladesh, Brazil, Cameroon, Mexico, and Senegal.
The GPSA and Climate Collective work together to leverage innovative green technology solutions to improve citizen engagement, transparency, and accountability in climate finance. The 1st cohort of the Green Accountability Technology Accelerator, which consists of four teams, are developing tech-enabled tools to enhance citizen oversight and decision making in climate finance and climate action.
Global Youth Leadership Center has joined forces with the World Bank’s Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA), a key player in civil society-led social change. The partnership aims to foster youth leadership in climate-vulnerable countries in the Global South through online education focused on climate leadership, green skills, and social accountability.
Green accountability creates systemic ways for people to have a voice and role in the climate decisions that most impact their lives. It places citizens and civil society at the heart of climate finance to direct funding, implement solutions, and hold decision-makers accountable for effective and equitable climate action.
