The Hunger Project

Gunjan Veda is Senior Manager, Global Collaborative Research and Public Policy for The Hunger Project Canada and The Movement for Community-Led Development. In this role, she leads a multi-organizational, multi-country, collaborative research team that works to strengthen the practice, impact and evaluation of community-led development (CLD) programming globally. Gunjan designs and conducts trainings on strengthening CLD and community-led monitoring and evaluation, and is an active participant in the decolonizing aid and #ShiftThePower conversations. She also works extensively with organizations like USAID and the World Bank to center community voices in international development.

Prior to joining The Hunger Project, Gunjan worked extensively on a range of developmental issues with the non-profit and government sectors in India. She was a policy-maker with the Indian Government’s Planning Commission, where her portfolio included Gender, Health, Nutrition, Marginalized Communities and Child Rights, founded IndiaReads (an online library) and helped establish WISH, a non-profit that works to scale up high-impact healthcare innovations in India.

Gunjan has authored many publications, including two books – Beautiful Country: Stories from Another India (with Syeda Hameed, Harper Collins; 2012) and The Museum of Broken Tea Cups (Sage; 2020). She holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a MA in International Relations from Warwick University, UK.
